additional charge.
About Pharmacy Services
The VTH Pharmacy assures your animal's
pharmaceutical needs are provided during their stay in the hospital and after discharge. The Pharmacy
provides unit-dose medication for animals while they are in hospital and allows for preparation and
delivery of the exact amount of medicine and the correct number of doses needed for therapy.
Pharmacy technicians and pharmacists provide the following services:
- Prepare many outpatient prescriptions daily to take care of patients needs as they go home.
- Prepare intravenous fluids and parenteral nutrition solutions for patients using aseptic technique in a laminar flow hood.
- Maintain controlled drug modules to provide clinicians with after hours and emergency access to pharmaceuticals.
- Compound products used in the hospital by different service areas such as anesthesia, enabling the Pharmacy to have exactly the strength or size product needed here in our hospital which may not be commercially available.
- Prepare many antigens specifically for your animal's needs on the order of our dermatologists.
