Research focus has been on pathology, diagnostics, immunology, vaccine development, pharmacokenetics, and zoonotic diseases.

Past-President (2002-2003) of the International Association for Aquatic Animal Medicine, Executive Editor of the International Journal of Recirculating Aquaculture.  Have been an invited speaker at international meetings in Chile, Japan and Portugal.
