I love the visual aspect of pathology; looking into a microscope allows me to peek into the secret lives of cells and pathogens, and to see the ‘action’ that underlies clinical signs. I live in Blacksburg with my family, including my son Peregrine (12) and daughter Jamie (15), as well as our ‘zoo’ of dogs, cats, fish, dragon, and ferret. I would have a tarantula and an emperor scorpion, but my partner won’t allow them in the house. I enjoy hiking, fencing (at which I am not very good at the moment), drawing, pottery, and recreational reading.
