Dr. McKenzie is an assistant professor of equine medicine at Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center. He earned a doctor of veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. Following graduation, Dr. McKenzie joined Monocacy Equine Veterinary Associates, a private equine practice in Montgomery County, Maryland, where he practiced until 1995. He entered the equine internal medicine residency program at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center in January 1995 and received a master of science in veterinary medical sciences from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. Dr. McKenzie served as a clinical instructor in equine medicine at the center from 1998 to 2003, and was promoted to his current position in 2003. He achieved Diplomate status in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2000. Dr. McKenzie’s research interests include aerosol therapy, respiratory disease, critical care and endocrinology. He is a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Virginia Association of Equine Practitioners and the Virginia Veterinary Medical Association.
