Jill McCutcheon, DVM, Ph.D.Assistant Dean for Research and Graduate Studies |
Dr. Jill McCutcheon is assistant dean for research and graduate studies at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine (VMRCVM). A veterinary pathologist and a member of the Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology, she oversees graduate studies at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center as well as the collaborative research program between the Equine Medical Center and the Middleburg Agricultural Research and Extension Center. After earning a DVM from the University of Guelph's Ontario Veterinary College in 1983, Dr. McCutcheon conducted a Medical Research Council of Canada Fellowship from 1985-1990, completing a residency in pathology and earning a Ph.D. in equine exercise physiology from Washington State University in 1990. She served as both acting dean and assistant dean for undergraduate academic affairs at the Ontario Veterinary College, and then as acting provost at the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. Dr. McCutcheon received the SmithKline Beecham Research Award for Excellence in Research in 1993 and was awarded the Presidential Distinguished Professor Award at the University of Guelph in 2003. She has authored/co-authored more than 60 scholarly publications and seven academic textbooks and textbook chapters. Dr. McCutcheon joined the VMRCVM in October 2005. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.
