VirginiaTechforlife Blood Drive - Saturday, April 5, 2008
The Virginia Tech Alumni Association will be holding a blood drive at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 5. For additional information, visit http://www.alumni.vt.edu/blooddrive/index.html.
Hokie Volunteer Day - Friday, April 11, 2008
Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center will host a Hokie Volunteer Day for alumni from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Friday, April 11. This day of service is designed to allow participants to fulfill their 10 hours of pledged community service for the university’s VT-ENGAGE effort through the planting of Hokie flowers and shrubbery. A pizza luncheon will be served. Alumni who are interested in participating in this event should R.S.V.P. to Marjorie Musick by phone at (703) 771-6881 prior to Wednesday, April 9. The Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center is located at 17690 Old Waterford Rd. in Leesburg.

Town of Leesburg’s Virginia Tech Memorial Tree Grove Dedication Ceremony - Saturday, April 12, 2008
The Town of Leesburg will be holding a dedication ceremony for the Virginia Tech Memorial Tree Grove at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Ida Lee Park (60 Ida Lee Drive, NW, Leesburg, Virginia). The memorial site is located at the southeast corner of Ida Lee Park along N. King Street (Rt. 15 N) and the Union Cemetery entrance. Parking will be directed by staff into the field adjacent to the memorial location. This dedication will go ahead as planned rain or shine. Attendees should R.S.V.P. to (703) 777-1262.
Time of Remembrance Event - Wednesday, April 16, 2008
Virginia Tech’s Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center will host a time of remembrance event at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16 (rain or shine). Speakers will include Dr. Martin Furr, professor and Adelaide C. Riggs Chair in Equine Medicine at the Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center; Dr. William D. Tyrrell Jr., past president, Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Society; and Joseph Keusch, council member, Marion duPont Scott Equine Medical Center. A moment of silence will be observed followed by a violin solo and the release of 32 doves. A reception will take place after the service.
